Desires and Wishes

NOTE TO EVERYONE!
As an World Map and landscape artist I need some materials and information before I can start to create our world's beautiful (or horrible) nature~ Of course the information given here will help other artists too so please throw your suggestions and wishes here so we artists can begin to sketch the world of Final Fantasy!! :')

I know that I would like, across the sea from the main lands, a city of mages, currently dubbed "Mysidia" (for obvious references).

On the other side of the map is the Faylyn Forest, where the Faoirse live in a city called Amene and on the edge on the west is Alberon for the Draoichts. Right beside that it the other ocean.

Well since Nexis has a city of mages across the sea I think Illeanna's home town, Aadrika, should be somewhat close to it. It's a small city high up in the mountains.

Faylyn Forest divides the land squarely in half so you can't go around it...and you can reference Macalania woods from FFX for how it should look ^^

Amene is a city located in the trees and lit with an otherworldly light, like Lothlorien in LOTR.

Drake's village was probably on the side located closer to the castle...but it's nothing but a scar in the ground now.

I'm thinking the castle should be as far north as possible on the map. That way, on their journey south to find the place where the Orb is hidden they have to travel across the land, like how you begin in Besaid in FFX and end up on the other side of the world.

The Faylyn Forest is more like a labyrinth. People outside the races aren't allowed into either Alberon or Amene, so they're kind of hidden and probably wouldn't have a specific place on the map, but rather a general spot.

No, I don't think the cities would have a location on the map...just the forest and the ruins on the outskirts.

I would love something like an Omega Dungeon ( i really love super bosses )

I think once you find the forest towns, then the map would show you their location in the forest.

We'll see how we end up with the "Omega Ruins"... I hope that someone will give it a good name.

Blaah... If there's no marks in the map it's going to be a pain in da a** so the spots could appear to the map when you'll find different kinds of places.
Some basic well known towns, villages and areas could be already there in the map.

@Nexis: These cities aren't something the character ever explores, I don't think. They're sealed off to those not of their kind. I think the player could explore the forest, but I don't think they'd ever find the citites.

We should have some of the cities explorable. Like the city around the castle at the beginning of the game, the city of the mages and Illeanna's hometown.

Yes, I agree with that. I'm saying Alberon and Amene, inside the forest, aren't accessible, unless somehow Aysel or Illeanna went off exploring on their own.

That makes me think about FF6...Not having a set "Main Hero", and I think if perhaps the "Forest People" opt to go alone (perhaps Arkam would be allowed, too?), then those cities would be an option to explore.

Oh, sorry. I guess I wasn't exactly clear on that.

I think it'd be interesting to have only a few characters allowed to explore a city. The game's focus won't have just one main character anymore though. I don't know if you guys are okay with that but I am.

I'm fine with that. I always liked it, like with FFXIII, when the characters had to split up for awhile to explore different areas and get clues as to where to go next, but not everyone went with them.

I'm thinking Izareen & Aysel will separate from the rest of the group to explore these areas, seeing as thier races are allies & they are probably allowed into one another's cities without question. Maybe at that point, the other four heroes would visit somewhere nearby? I haven't become familiar with the map yet, hahaha.

I still think Arkam, being a mage and all that, would be allowed to go, too.

That's up to Rose. The Draiochts are incredibly secretive, even with other mages if they are not of the race. It's due to the fact that they are human and in turn are more suceptible to corruption.

I agree, most players would love to explore the secret areas... and it'll be like in ffX when only tidus, riku, wakka could access the under water sector

Ok ok this was the wish section of the map design! xD So here's an update:
It seems that almost all of you approve my map designs so far so could I have some more information of places and stuff. It would be nice if you could tell me your ideas of the world itself so that I can do more things to the map and make changes.

Um, well, we need Mysidia, the Queen's land, of course, but I think we won't have much more until we actually write the script. Remember, most of the rest of the game revolves around a script, which takes months of planning from people who are dedicated to JUST that.

Yup, I know that. Sorry for being so impatient. ^^'' But could you give me some describes of this so called Mysidia... That sound familiar.. Mysidia Alloy... Was it from FFTA?... Never mind! >:'D

In FF2 (Firion, Maria, Gus, and Leon), it was a mage's town.
In FF4 (Cecil Harvey, etc...), it was a mage's town as well.
